If resetting is so important, why is the default to not reset when installing new firmware?

I've upgraded routers to new firmware without resetting the NVRAM, successfully, several times. I guess its risky, but not that risky. I've never bricked a router. --MrElvey 02:28, 3 November 2009 (CET)
