Just want to say first off that I followed this wiki - http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT350N - very closely. I did a true 30-30-30 HARD reset before attempting a firmware upgrade to "svn 14929 dd-wrt.v24_mini_wrt350n.bin" I am running the most current Linksys firmware v1.04.4, attempting to upgrade using Firefox 12.0 (I have also attempted using IE 8.0.6xxxx with the same results).

Since the first time I've tried it, I've gotten the same result, the upgrade starts, then at about 26% the screen changes to saying "Upgrade failed" in red letters with the only option being to "Continue". When I click on "Continue" I am taken back to the upgrade screen to see that the upgrade is still processing! In fact, the upgrade processes all the way up to 98% where it freezes. Luckily it does not brick the router, I am able to leave the upgrade page with no changes in settings or firmware.

Any ideas?

sure, its v1? v2 is not supported.
if yes, maybe your flash rom is corrupt.

Anything that can be done for corrupt flash rom?

and you really tried wrt350n mini file and not v24_generic_mini?

1st: try linksys original firmware downgrade and then upgrade to dd-wrt. maybe newest linksys stock firmware has some kind of protection.

2nd: you bought a "used" unit? maybe someone put a v2 board into v1 plastics.

Yes, definitely tried the wrt350n-mini file. I did not purchase the router used, it is an old unit I purchased new a few years ago, have not had the need for dd-wrt until now (I have used dd-wrt on older routers, however, so I am familiar with it).

Any idea where I can find a Linksys firmware downgrade link?

hm cant help you with old links, sry.
last chance would be flash via JTAG the Kernel / wholeflash.

or try another mini build revision.

Well since it seems Linksys does not maintain an archive of old firmware, I cannot downgrade.

What is a flash via JTAG the Kernel / wholeflash and how do I do it? Do I risk bricking the router?

try first another min revision build.

for jtag, just google. you need a special cable / access to router´s board and so on. jtag is normally for unbricking, so less chance to brick Smile

Re-download the firmware. Use a different computer and a different cable, preferably a win XP machine. I have that router...it flashes fine.

Got it guys! Should have told me Firefox is worthless these days for dd-wrt (didn't used to be that way). I tried fresh from the start using IE and got it going.

Not only did it only work in IE, but I can't even edit settings in Firefox now that I have mega up and running (although I can view all tabs), still have to go thru IE, oh well. Maybe time to switch to Chrome?
