SKYNET CFE Builder tool
http://www.wlan-skynet.de/download/skynet_repairkit_1.3_setup.exe

Use Bootloader Creator to create cfe for your router.
Download install and do a online update before you create the cfe.
select your router and version from the drop down list.

Use the DD-WRT firmware for tftp not the Linksys.

There is a generic one with a 40.00.00.00.01 MAC address in the CFE collection project sticky. You might have to hex edit your MAC into it, and then upload it with a jtag.

There is a way to do this with VXprep/custom killer?, if you haven't already done the vxkiller

under skynet builder, the only choice I see for WRT54G V5 is (Linux)... do I want that? cause I thought v5 had vmware and not Linux...

CFE is linux. VX is not, which is why you have to kill it before putting dd-wrt on it.

I have heard the skynet cfes are problematic. Of course, one often doesn't hear if it DOES work.

There is a CFE for that router in the CFE collection sticky....all you have to do is download it and do a hex edit on the mac address.

Welp, I have no clue on Hexediting..... what I thought would be a simple upgrade turns out to be a "buy a jtag" and "flash a few million times" escapade... weee, what fun.. not really

You can always use the cfe in the cfe collection project sticky, and then use a startup script to use your own Mac address. Works great. Write the script in the command gui and click save on startup and you are done.
